For the last term we have been busy learning all about entrepreneurship through Startup Skool (originally Early Entrepreneurs). The Startup Skool curriculum focuses on the core principles of entrepreneurship, design thinking, and technology. We learned about what an entrepreneur is, different types of businesses, product design, operations, marketing, and finances. The students brainstormed what our business should be, created their own name (Division 2 Cares) and logo. Then we pitched our cinema business idea to Startup Skool, successfully receiving a $100 microloan. | |
We brainstormed what products to sell at our theatre that we could afford with our microloan, surveyed our customers, created all of the advertising around school (posters, canvasing classes, announcements), advertised on social media, and ran the actual event. Using an entrepreneurial mindset, we solved real problems and adapted to ever-changing circumstances. We used our business as a force for good and to create positive impacts in the lives of others. The event was a huge success, and Division 2 Cares will be donating all proceeds ($1,207.85) towards the Free The Children charity, helping children who live in poverty around the world. |
